How we organise ourselves

While we operate across different Support Centres and Regions, we consider ourselves as the One WSB supporting the Scout Movement. The One WSB has two important types of teams:

  • By geographical location (Regional Support Centres – Africa, Arab, Asia-Pacific, Europe and Interamerica – and the Global Support Centre).
  • By areas of work acting as communities of practice such as Scouting Development, Organizational Development, Communications, Business Development, World Events, and Corporate Services.

The core functions of the One WSB are reflected in the work of all Support Centres, regardless of whether they are at the World or Regional level.

While we aspire to develop a common culture for the One WSB based on our values, each Region in Scouting has its own unique character, specific needs, challenges and opportunities. Therefore, each of our One WSB Regional Support Centres is structured in a way that responds best to the Region’s character.

The Thematic Teams play an important role in cultivating teamwork across One WSB and provide a collaborative platform to enable functional teams to work together on joint initiatives and across geographical boundaries.  

Almost everything we do is done collaboratively with teams of volunteers from around the world. Working with volunteers allows us to access talent across a variety of fields and ensures the representation of our Member Organizations in the design and delivery of our work.
