Promotions

A Senior Management Team member, in consultation with the human resources team, may recommend the promotion of a staff member to the Secretary General for consideration. A promotion may mean either a change of title and responsibilities, a change in compensation, or all. The following considerations will be taken into account to consider the recommendation:

  • Performance has been rated as “meeting expectations” or higher (see WSB Performance Management) for at least two consecutive years.
  • A vacancy or a new position is created, or the staff member’s current position has been reclassified and given a higher grade.
  • Enabling the individual’s career progression, subject to the WSB’s structure and requirements (e.g., the availability or creation of a suitable role into which one can be promoted).
  • Equity considerations ensuring that staff are treated and compensated fairly across teams.
  • Budget availability.

If a change in compensation is approved as part of the promotion by the Secretary General, it shall be determined in accordance with the WSB Grading System and considering internal equity.
