Disciplinary procedures

The WOSM Code of Conduct should be considered as an integral part of the WSB Staff Handbook. Staff are expected to adhere to all the provisions in it. Any breach of these can lead to a disciplinary process.

It is expected that most minor issues or challenges can be resolved between the staff and the line manager. Where this approach fails, or the matter is more serious, a formal procedure will normally be implemented progressively, typically in three stages:

  • Stage 1: A first letter of warning will be given to the staff concerned and her or his performance or conduct will be monitored.
  • Stage 2: If there is no improvement a final formal written warning will be issued.
  • Stage 3: A written dismissal will be issued, and further legal action may be taken.

In addition, the Secretary General may also form a panel to assist in investigating any breaches of staff vis-à-vis the Employee Handbook or the WOSM Code of Conduct.

At the discretion of the Secretary General, staff may be put on administrative leave pending an investigation.
