Staff

Individuals engaged by the World Scout Bureau as staff are employed by the Support Centre in accordance with local employment regulations, typically with contracts exceeding one year and normally based at the Support Centre. Staff are provided with several incentives and benefits (insurance, leave, pension contributions etc) and are fully subject to the rules and regulations in this Staff Handbook.

Consultants

Individuals engaged by the World Scout Bureau as consultants are contracted by the Support Centre using the WSB’s consultancy contract to provide a specific service or activities in a specific time. These are typically contracts up to one year in duration and can be based remotely depending on the requirements of the service. Consultants are paid a fixed fee and are responsible for their own taxes, insurances, devices and any other obligations they have resulting from their service. Insofar as possible, consultants are required to comply with the obligations outlined in this Staff Handbook.

Interns and full-time volunteers

Individuals engaged by the World Scout Bureau as interns or full-time volunteers are appointed by the Support Centre using the WSB’s internship contract. These are envisioned as short-term learning opportunities, equipping the individual with skills and expertise to further their professional development while contributing to the mission of Scouting. The WSB covers the accommodation and living expenses as required through a stipend. In some instances, full-time volunteers are seconded by a National Scout Organization or a programme (overseas agency, funding programme, university convention, etc.) which covers part or all of their expenses during their service.
