Apart from our role as the World Scout Bureau, which is clearly defined in the WOSM Constitution, we have distilled a list of seven simple key core functions we deliver to all of our members. To that extent, the World Scout Bureau is committed to support the Scout Movement in creating a better world by:

  1. Providing service to NSOs thus enabling them to provide better Scouting to more young people in their countries.
  2. Ensuring the growth of the Movement in countries where Scouting does not yet exist, as well as in new communities in countries where Scouting already exists.
  3. Supporting the governance of the Movement and providing institutional support to NSOs.
  4. Supporting the development of policies, standards and guidelines for Scouting.
  5. Developing initiatives, programmes and projects on topics of interest for the Movement (e.g., Sustainable Development Goals, peace, environment, gender equality, humanitarian action, etc.).
  6. Organising Regional and World Scouting events.
  7. Communicating, building partnerships and mobilising resources.
  8. Advocating for non-formal education and influencing positive change in the world.
