Fraud against the WSB is defined as any misappropriation of money, equipment or other tangible or intangible property belonging to the WSB. Examples include but are not limited to:

  • Taking money or property without proper authorisation such as diverting funds from a company account for personal use or stealing equipment;
  • Obtaining money from the WSB through deception by cheating on expense statements or falsifying time records to receive additional pay;
  • Selling or otherwise improperly using or divulging propriety information belonging to the WSB;
  • Accepting personal rewards (in the form of money or gifts) from suppliers or contractors, all such payments are ultimately funded by the price WSB pays for goods and services.

Prompt reporting of any suspicion of fraud is essential to protect the WSB. Any staff who suspects that fraud may have been committed should report the essential facts immediately to whistleblowing@scout.org. All reports will be investigated promptly. Any suspicion of fraud should be treated with the utmost confidentiality and internal investigation. Disclosure may not only damage the reputation of innocent individuals, but also make it more difficult for the WSB to successfully complete and prosecute staff engaging in illegal activity.
